Residents of Britain hosting refugees from Ukraine are under serious stress due to the economic crisis, while some of the British want to “take away” their homes from them for the Christmas holidays. This is reported by the Daily Mail.
According to Kate Daniels of the Family Therapy Association, which provides support to British refugees, some “sponsors” are desperate about what will happen at Christmas and New Year. “They want their homes back, and that’s fair enough,” she said.
She said that many British people who have received Ukrainians feel “guilt and shame even for just a feeling of irritation,” while they often simply tell refugees: “my house is your house,” after which “all sorts of difficulties arise.” So, according to Daniels, one British woman felt like a stranger in her own house, because one day she went downstairs and the refugees were sitting in the kitchen and talking on the phones. She had to go to her room.
In turn, the specialist of the charity Center for Labor Rights Adis Sehich said that the British are concerned about the rising cost of living.
